Creepy, Crawly, Ticks!
Creepy, crawly ticks!
If you’re in Indiana, it’s important to stay ahead of ticks. These pests live in wooded and grassy areas and can transmit diseases like Lyme disease and anaplasmosis. In horses, these can cause fever, stiffness, lamenes, and in more serious cases, neurologic or behavior changes.
The good news is prevention goes a long way.
Check your horse before and after rides and pasture time, especially ears, mane, tail, belly and between the legs. Keep pastures trimmed and use a quality tick repellent.
A few minutes of prevention can save months of treatment and help keep your horse healthy.
