Clinical signs are variable but may include πππ«ππ§, π’ππ‘π π©π€ π¨ππ«ππ§π ππππ§π§πππ, π‘ππ’ππ£ππ©ππ¨, ππ€π‘ππ, and ππππ§πππ¨ππ ππππ€π’ππ£ππ‘ π¨π€πͺπ£ππ¨. Pregnant mares may also abort infected fetuses. Mortality rates have been reported between 5% and 30% according to AAEP.org, underscoring the importance of proactive prevention through vaccination and risk management.
